The Rector of the University of Jaén, Nicolás Ruiz, has made an institutional visit to the facilities of the ATLAS Centers of CATEC in Villacarrillo and Beas de Segura, in which he has been able to know closely our innovative facilities, as well as the organizational structure, lines of work and projects of our centers.
For the Rector, who has shown great interest, the visit has been “very satisfactory and productive”, with a view to a possible collaboration in strategic joint projects, such as Cetedex, the Technological Center for Development and Experimentation, under the Ministry of Defense, which will be located in Jaen. “We have analyzed what we can do together, taking into account that we have common interests and lines of work. We have a lot of enthusiasm and ambition to do things together and we have identified, for example, that we must join forces in national and European competitive calls to aspire to obtain funds that allow us to develop technology that is of interest for the aeronautical sector, in the military and civilian fields”, said Ruiz, emphasizing that ‘we see a clear window of opportunity to work with the ATLAS Center of CATEC’.
For her part, Macarena Márquez, manager of the ATLAS Alpha and Bravo Centers, highlighted the value of the “first level” infrastructures we have, in which, for example, aerotaxi prototype tests are currently being carried out. Regarding the possible collaboration with UJA, he stated that “there are many synergies with the CETEDEX program that we can explore together and we are beginning a round of visits to make this collaboration as effective as possible”.
The Rector of the UJA has been accompanied in his visit by the Vice Rector for Research and Knowledge Transfer, Mª Victoria López, and by the Director of the International Projects Office of the UJA, Emilio Muñoz. We would like to thank the Rector’s team for the interest of UJA in ATLAS and for this fruitful visit.
