Last week, Alpha Unmanned Systems (AUS) visited our ATLAS flight centre with a team from QinetiQ Germany to complete the final module of the A900 helicopter certification training.

This training focused on both VLOS (Visual Line of Sight) flights within visual range and BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) long-range flights to gain valuable operational experience with the A900 helicopter UAV platform, practising stabilisation techniques for this aircraft.

The new Alpha A900 fuel-powered UAV is designed for challenging environments and built to STANAG standards to meet maritime safety requirements (rapid deployment on deck, increased flight autonomy, flotation devices, etc.). It is renowned for its remarkable flight autonomy, capable of flying for up to 4 hours with a payload of up to 4 kilos. These small fuel-powered helicopters are capable of automatically taking off and landing on mobile platforms and are used for a wide variety of purposes, such as maritime safety, power line inspection, mapping and precision agriculture.

Congratulations to AUS on the success of this final A900 campaign.
